If you are a passionate human rights advocate who is interested in exploring and writing about human rights issues taking place around the world, you are welcome to submit your writings and contribute to Human Rights Weekly blog.
Our goal is to publish meaningful and educational articles that will make an impact on readers and the human rights law field.
Why Write for HRW?
By contributing to this blog, you’ll be sharing your expertise with students, advocates, instructors, and other professionals who are also passionate about human rights law. If your article is selected for publication on the blog, you’ll earn extra exposure by having the article shared on our social media channels with HRW readers!
Submissions Guidelines
- There is no word limit for your submission. However, we recommend keeping your article concise and easy to follow. We also ask to break the article into easily-digestible sections (use subheadings to stay organized).
- Do NOT write in the first person using words like “I,” “me,” or “my.” Instead, write from the standpoint of an educational and authoritative resource on the topic.
- Articles must address human rights issues and analyze them from a legal and/or policy standpoint. The article must NOT be focused solely on political opinions and partisanship.
- Authors are NOT bound by the human rights topics/categories highlighted in the HRW blog. Authors are welcome to address any human rights issue as they see fit. However, HRW reserve the right to review the topics before deciding on its appropriateness for publication on the blog.
- Articles must be your original work and not published elsewhere on the web.
- HRW reserves the right to edit your article, including grammar, spelling, and formatting.
- All citations should be hyperlinked in the text. If authors are unable to provide hyperlinks for citations, endnotes are appropriate. Articles will not be accepted if they do not appropriately credit all the sources used in the text.
- All articles will be run for plagiarism before deciding on publications.
- If your writing has two authors, include both authors’ full names in the submission form below with a short bio of each author. If there are more than two authors for the article, submit the other authors’ full names and bios to humanrightsweeklyblog@gmail.com
- You are welcome to submit more than one article at a time. However, HRW reserve the right on deciding the timing of publications for each article, if chosen.

Copyrights
By submitting an article, the author gives HRW the permission to publish the article on the Web and assigns to HRW, without restriction, all worldwide rights, title, and interest in and to the article. If authors choose to subsequently republish their contributions to HRW in another medium, publication or venue, we ask that reference to the initial publication within HRW with full and complete acknowledgment of HRW’s rights in the article (including, without limitation, the copyright notice that appears in HRW’s original publication of the article) be included. If your article has been previously published, we will consider republishing as long as the author controls or can arrange the necessary rights for HRW to reuse the content indefinitely with any existing copyright holder.
