Eliminating inequality, violence, and all forms of discrimination against women and girls are critical human rights that must be attained around the world. Despite being in the 21st century, there is still a huge gender inequality between men and women. And there are still women and girls around the world who are experiencing violence on a daily basis.
The United Nations, and fortunately, many countries around the world, addressed women’s human rights, and significant progress can be seen. However, there are still many gaps that need to be addressed, especially in developing countries where gender inequality and patriarchy are not only critical problems but embedded concepts in the culture and tradition of those countries. Since violence and discrimination are constantly emerging against women, I am dedicating this section to highlight women’s human rights violations accordingly. I will also examine the legal and political steps taken to address such violations, if any, as well as the societal response to each.
